This article has the best comeback quotes, with explanations and graphics you can save, share on social media, and tweet about.

Life is a struggle where only the toughest survive. This thought often comes to me when I feel defeated by something or feel like giving up.

Throughout my life, I have seen my fair share of setbacks.

In those difficult moments, the one factor that has helped me sustain myself has been the inspirational comeback stories of famous people.

There is something grand and heroic about a comeback. It instils confidence in you to overcome obstacles.

Knowing that other humans in the past overcame massive setbacks and still rose to heights of success, it fills you with hope.

We need hope to persevere and go on with life.

Driven by this desire to create hope and self-belief in my own life, I delved deep into biographies.

With time, I read 100s of biographies of famous people, including world leaders, athletes, artists, and more. My particular interest lay in personalities who lost a lot in life and still managed to stage a comeback.

It made me realize that greatness is possible even after devastation and loss. In fact, some people thrive from it.

One common theme I found in all the comeback stories was persistence. If you have courage coupled with an iron will and are persistent about your goal, no matter how many times you fall, you will still rise.

These biographies and quotes have sailed me through countless pitfalls in life.

So, I thought – why not share it with the readers of The Starting Idea?

I went on a deep dive and started searching for the best quotes of the personalities that have influenced me the most. I have also added a deeper explanation for each quote and how you can internalize it.

This article has quotes by people who charted historic comebacks, such as Nelson Mandela, Winston Churchill, Muhammad Ali, World War 2 heroes, medieval generals, ancient philosophers, and more.

In addition, I have also added a voice playback for the entire article, so you can listen to it as affirmations to inspire you, while you are on the go, or doing some heavy-duty task.

The article is fine-tuned and written in a way that once you go through it, you will be poised to not only internalize the virtues of a comeback but also take action.

2) “There is nothing as sweet as a comeback, when you are down and out, about to lose, and out of time.” — Anne Lamott

3) “To have a comeback, you have to have a setback.” — Mr. T

Explanation: People often take preventive measures and are overcautious to avoid a setback. But do they realize that setbacks are the first act to a 3 part story of setback, struggle, and comeback.

A comeback is colored as a comeback only coz of a great setback. That’s what makes a comeback so glorious and romantic.

4) “Your hardest times often lead to the greatest moments of your life. Keep going. Tough situations build strong people in the end.” – Roy Bennett

comeback quote by Roy Bennett in image format

Explanation: Life is a series of tests, and these tests can be a showcase of your courage and will in your darkest hours.

I’ll tell you a very personal story that I rarely talk about but this quote compels me to share with you. Back in late 2015, I suffered from chemical poisoning due to a pest control mitigation accident, which exposed me to propoxur poisoning.

It was a bed bug pest control activity. A majority of the chemicals were sprayed on my bed drawers and other parts (people who do not know what a bed bug infestation looks like, I hope it stays the same for you, you do not want to experience this nightmare fueled with bed bugs hiding everywhere, and coming out at night, biting you, making your entire body burn with itches, and not letting you sleep).

This chemical was sprayed on my bed drawers, and other essential spaces, and the old house I lived in lacked proper ventilation, making me very sick and not able to do much.

In those times, while I single-handedly tried cleaning my home, vacuuming, and packing my stuff in sealed bags, while being drained of every energy, I remembered the fighting spirit of World War 2 soldiers, who fought against insurmountable odds and won the war in the face of certain defeat.

I remembered my grandpa’s World War 2 contribution to the Arakan offensive in Burma. I remembered the Dunkirk evacuation.

I took inspiration from the Battle of Britain, where Winston Churchill famously said it was their finest hour.

I remembered how Stalingrad was the turning point in the darkest hour. I remembered these moments of fighting spirit, human courage, winning against all odds for humanity, in humanity’s darkest hours.

This made me go on. This quote really took me back to those days.

The darkest hour is the perfect setting for the tough to get going and make their finest hour. It is not for everyone, but some specially molded humans seek this darkest hour. So be brave, and face it and take your glory.

Explanation: I love the play of words on this one. This quote can rewire your mind into how you see a setback. It’s not the end of the world, but a setup for you to relaunch yourself.

7) “Rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” – J.K. Rowling

Comeback quote from J.K. Rowling in image format

Once you hit rock bottom, you have nothing to lose. That rock bottom becomes your solid foundation to build your life.

8) “Anytime you suffer a setback or disappointment, put your head down and plow ahead.” – Les Brown

9) “You can never have the comeback if you don’t have the retirement.”  – Chael Sonnen

10) “You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.” – Margaret Thatcher

This quote elaborates on that dogged attitude by talking about how making a comeback is not about a single battle but many sequential and simultaneous battles leading you to your goal.

11) “A comeback is not a go back.” – Tim Storey

Explanation: This quote essentially means that a comeback permanently changes you. After the comeback process, you will no longer remain your old, fragile self.

You will become strong and iron-willed coz you experienced the struggle and grind to rise again.

So, once you go on that path, there is no turning back to being the old you; it’s a new you who wins in life.

12) “Fall seven times, stand up eight.” – Japanese Proverb

Comeback quote taken from a Japanese Proverb, presented in an iamge format

What if he had given up after the disastrous Gallipoli campaign in World War 1? History would look much different now.

15) “Remember that guy that gave up? Neither does no one else.” – Unknown

Explanation: This quote should be a telling reminder every time you feel like giving up on your comeback journey. Basically, we have 2 choices: Give up or make a comeback.

We need to evaluate and see what is the ROI of each. If we give up, it means we lose all hope and also no one remembers us. On the other hand, if we choose to fight on and make a comeback, it instils hope and faith and makes us live for a greater goal that would inspire others to not give up.

16) “Don’t be afraid to give up the good to go for the great.” – John D. Rockefeller

26) “I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.” – Carl Jung

Comeback quote by Carl Jung

Explanation When you have lost or suffered a setback in your comeback journey, you might internalize it and let it weigh you down.

It would only lead to another failure. For real change to occur, you need to change yourself. That’s when success will follow through.

29) “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” – Winston Churchill

Explanation: The comeback trail can be hard and full of adversity. Use this quote by Winston Churchill to go through it.

30) “The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt

If you are willful and never lose hope, no matter how much your back is against the wall, somehow or the other, things will work out for you, eventually. After all, God blesses his bravest.

Even if you think about it scientifically, think of the energy you express against the odds. If you do not buckle down in front of your adversities and keep going for your goal, your mind will be trained in handling pressure.

You will be able to navigate these problems successfully and also find hidden opportunities.

This power to do so itself is the power of God in our lives. Never lose hope.

3. Comeback Quotes to Overcome Failures

34) “The truth is, you don’t learn much from winning, but losing can make you a lot stronger.”― Drew Brees

Comeback quote from Drew Brees in image format

Explanation: We all love to win, but winning does not expose the hidden flaws in you as much as losing does.

Losing opens up the flaws and helps you recognize the errors in your strategy. Every time you lose, you open up an opportunity to get a degree in the university of life.

This is because, as you lose, you have an opportunity to learn from your mistakes and build muscle memory of the corrective steps to win next time.

35) “Great people make failure the cornerstone of their success.” – Anonymous

ExplanationThis quote is basically about making failures a positive thing in life. Too often, our respective cultures frown upon and shun failures as something to avoid.

But what is the result of this attitude? Procrastination, inaction, and anxiety ultimately lead to not taking the onus in life and losing out on opportunities. We need to change that.

If you read their biographies, great people all have one thing in common. They all failed a few times in their life. Despite those failures, they did not stop.

They took lessons from failures and soldiered on, looking for the next big opportunity.

You need to be like that. Failure is unavoidable, so use it, take lessons from it, and make your comeback.

36) “I’ve learned that something constructive comes from every defeat.” – Tom Landry

Explanation: True. Every failure teaches you priceless lessons that can pale any book in comparison. Every time you fail, you get a practical experience of what worked and what did not.

37) “Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.” – Robert F. Kennedy

38) “A setback is never a bad experience, just another one of life’s lessons.” – Richard Branson

Comeback quote by Richard Branson

Explanation: This quote can be used by you to see every failure positively while you are on your comeback trail. One should see every failure or fall as a practical life lesson on what not to do.

When you keep a note of what went wrong, study and analyze it, you will be able to avoid that mistake in future and increase your chances of winning.

39) “There is no innovation and creativity without failure. Period.” – Brene Brown

Explanation: This quote can keep you inspired when you fail, as it shows the positive outcomes of a great failure.

42) “Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” – Napoleon Hill

Comeback quote by Napoleon Hill

Explanation:  Oh! The comeback quotes keep getting better and better. Your fall and the start of your comeback will be met by extreme adversity, repeated failures, and heartbreaks.

Think of them as lessons and course corrections that lay the seed of a huge benefit coming your way.

43) “Mistakes are the portals of discovery.” – James Joyce

44) “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” – Henry Ford

Comeback quote by Henry Ford

Explanation: This quote shows that failure is not the end of the road as it is made out to be.

Henry Ford failed the first two times he attempted to start a motor company.

What if he had stopped there? There would be no Ford Motor Company today.

In the same way, we need to think of failures as another fresh start, and with the added intelligence of what works and what does not.

45) “Every exit is an entry somewhere else.” – Tom Stoppard

Explanation: This quote requires you to think of failure as the entry point of your comeback.

What I like most is that it rewires your mind not to dwell or wallow over failure but to focus on the comeback instead.

46) “Success is how high you bounce back after you hit bottom.”– General George Patton

Explanation: I love quotes from General Patton. This quote talks about judging the true nature of man and the character he displays when he hits rock bottom.

It’s about how a man treats his failures when he has lost everything. Does he fold and quit, or decides to fight back and win? Comebacks are only possible for people with strong characters and a fighting spirit.

4. Comeback Quotes About Persistence and Willpower

47) “I’m like a ‘comeback kid’ – you can’t keep me down for long!” — Nicola Adams

Comeback quote from Nicola Adams in image format

Explanation: That’s the attitude to go for; instead of treating a comeback like a herculean and hard-to-achieve phenomenon, your identity should correlate with comebacks. This way, it will become second nature for you to make comebacks.

48) “A career is a series of ups and downs, of comebacks.” — Steve Guttenberg

Comeback quote from Steve Gutenberg in image format

Explanation: This is so true, right? A lot of us fear failure like the plague, but well, if you retrospectively look at the careers of every successful person, it is a mix of ups and downs. Success is about consistently coming back.

49) “I had to develop the mentality and stay positive about making my comeback.” — Alonzo Mourning

Explanation: This quote is about having a positive mindset. This positive mindset and belief system is the nurturing ground for a comeback. Isn’t comeback all about believing and putting that belief into action with an iron will to succeed?

50) “Obstacles don’t have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don’t turn around and give up.” – Michael Jordan

ExplanationThis quote is about meeting dead ends in your comeback journey. You might think this is the end of the road, but in reality, it is just a wrong turn.

Instead of turning around and giving up, just hit recalibrate, and choose the right road next time. The idea is not to give up.

51) “You don’t lose if you get knocked down; you lose if you stay down.” – Muhammad Ali

Explanation: Getting knocked down in life is absolutely normal. It’s an unavoidable reality in life and business. But it’s mainly about how you react to it. That is what matters.

If you stay down, you accept defeat. But if you plan your redemption and make a comeback, all the world’s glory is there for you.

52) “It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get up.” – Vincent Lombardi

Explanation: This quote feels straight from the Rocky movies. It’s basically about getting right back up after getting knocked down.

What makes great people different from the ordinary is how they choose to react to this knockout punch. Only the great ones can get back up after getting knocked down.

53) “Persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement.” – Matt Biondi

Comeback quote by Matt Biondi

Explanation: This quote talks about consistency and how it can change and convert any of your failed endeavors into success.

When you consistently pursue something, you hone your skills and keep showing up when others are sporadic.

This makes you far more skilled and efficient with time. Think of the 10000-hour rule proposed by Malcolm Gladwell in his book “Outliers”, which makes a person perfect in their craft. When you are persistent, you do great things.

54) “Do not judge me by my success, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again.” – Nelson Mandela

57) Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. – Confucious

On the other hand, if you quit, your journey ends there, and so does the hope of a comeback.

60) “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” – Thomas A. Edison

Comeback quote Thomas A. Edison

Explanation: Isn’t this quote so true? Think of success with the gold mining analogy. You are digging and digging, but you see no sign of gold.

Finally, you give up, oblivious and blinded to the fact that just one more strike of the shovel would have made you hit gold. You were so close to it, yet you would never know as you gave up.

Think of your comeback struggle in the same way. You might feel frustrated and tired, but what if just one more try would give you the breakthrough you needed?

61) “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.” – Vince Lombardi

5. Comeback Quotes on Mindset and Attitude Shift

67) “Comebacks are not at all easy. After a major surgery, the difficult part is to conquer the inner demons. It’s all in the mind. Only an individual can overcome his fears.” — Rohit Sharma

Comeback quote from Rohit Sharma in image format

Explanation: I agree with Rohit. He is an Indian cricketer who has gone through several injuries. But what he says here is about separating the mind from the body, and making the act of comeback more about an inner mental game than a physical one. The body can heal, but the doubt of a return may still linger. So, comebacks are about conquering the inner demons of the mind.

68) “I have always been a very patient person… I wasn’t rushing anything as long as I knew I was on the right track.” — Tommy Fleetwood

Comeback quote from Tommy Fleetwood in image format

Explanation: Patience and planning are integral to a comeback. There are days you might feel the wheels are falling off and no results are happening.

But if you have a rock-solid plan tested for all probabilities and have utmost faith in it, then with consistency and patience to delay the gratification of success, you can make that great comeback and win the world.

69) “The greatest comeback is making a comeback to yourself.” – Anonymous

Explanation: This quote shows how a comeback is more of an internal revisit than an external force. When you focus on your core, go to your core values, ethos, and competency, you set yourself up for success.

70) “Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it.” — Charles R. Swindoll

Comeback Quote by Charles. R. Swindoll

ExplanationMost of the power of what happens to us lies in our minds and how we respond to them.

If we break down in front of it, we lose any future possibilities to come back stronger.

On the other hand, if we take them as strong lessons to grow and become smarter, we persevere. Yes, this takes a lot of courage and effort, but we need to build this fortitude in us if we are serious about making a comeback in our lives.

71) “Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.” – Babe Ruth

72) “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.” – Henry Ford

Explanation: This quote should be memorized as a mantra for your comeback grind.

That is the time you should remember this physics-based quote: that aeroplanes take off against the wind, not with it. You need to use the adversity as fuel and go for it.

73) “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” – C.S. Lewis

Comeback quote by C.S. Lewis

Explanation: I love this quote from C.S. Lewis, the writer behind The Chronicles of Narnia.

This quote decimates the notion that one is too old to start over. No, some of the greatest entrepreneurs have started over from great setbacks, and that too very late in their life.

You need to believe in yourself and know that you are capable of making a comeback in your life.

74) “Turn your obstacles into opportunities and your problems into possibilities.” – Roy T. Bennett

Explanation: This is a way of thinking or a mindset to keep in mind while writing your comeback story. When starting over, you are bound to encounter countless obstacles. There is no way to sugarcoat this. It won’t be a rosy journey.

In such situations, you need to have the ability to be innovative by finding ways to make obstacles into opportunities and problems into possibilities.

75) “You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.” – Walt Disney

Explanation: Sometimes, a rude awakening is all we need to muster up our inner zeal, courage, and strength. When the chips are down, when people you count on backtrack on you, you realize you are all alone. Sometimes, that very feeling makes something happen to you.

It happened to me as well.

When I realized it, it gave me goosebumps and a powerful rush of zeal. I think when you are all alone, your subsequent inner awakening motivates you, even more, to be a force of change in your life and make the comeback that will shock those who did not believe in you.

76) “You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” – Marcus Aurelius

Explanation: Here is a great Stoic quote to think about when things are going difficult and awry.

Knowing you have power only in your mind will make you stop worrying about things external to you, and thus beyond your control. This removes half the stress you might experience while making your comeback.

77) “What seems to us as bitter trials are often blessings in disguise.” – Oscar Wilde

Comeback inspiration quote by Oscar Wilde

Explanation: If you’re going through a tough time, treat it as a necessary evil to surge ahead. The circumstances or pain you feel are the fuel you need to march ahead.

This situation was a blessing to showcase who’s truly your friend and who isn’t. Use all this as fuel to come back stronger.

78) “The best comeback is to come back by not coming back at all; live your life and forget their existence.” – Anonymous

Explanation: This one is an alternative take on a comeback. Many of us might not agree with it fully at face value, but let’s read between the lines.

This quote says that once you fail, you cannot go back to the same people and systems that caused you to fail. Instead, you should give a fresh start, which would be a comeback in itself.

79) “I’ve always felt like the underdog, and I’m comfortable with that label.” – Pink

Comeback quote from Mark Spitz in image format

Explanation: When people make a comeback, be it in the cine world, sports, or business, all negative chatter about them vanishes, and they are seen with adulation and respect.

So never take the negative talk of the world seriously. It is all temporary and will vanish the day you make your comeback.

81) “My comeback was not about winning or losing; it was about the feeling of being able to compete at the top level again.” — Thomas Muster

ExplanationI agree with it. Winning or losing at the end is a byproduct, distracting us from the main goal of leveling up to a grander premier level.

Instead of thinking in terms of winning or losing, one should think of getting into the competition. Getting back to that A-level is a comeback in itself.

85) “Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.” – Robert H. Schuller

Explanation: Oh, I love this quote. It is one of my favorites. Times are like seasons; sometimes they are good, and sometimes they are bad.

You cannot be immune to it. But if you are a stoic who has the grit to weather all these seasons, then you are tough enough to last any adversity.

86) “It’s not over till you WIN.” – Les Brown

88) The best revenge is massive success.” – Frank Sinatra

Explanation: I think all the Sigma males will relate to this. Revenge should not be hot-blooded. Yes, they hurt you, broke your heart, insulted you, or even humiliated you.

But the best answer to that is making a comeback with massive success. It should be a success that they cannot imagine you are capable of. Imagine how they would feel if they wrote you off, and then one fine day, see your success.

89) “The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.” – Thomas Paine

97) “Rise up and show the world your resolve.”  – Anonymous

Explanation: I love this quote, especially coz how glorious and heroic it sounds.

After all, when everything is against you, you are fighting against all odds; that is when the true mettle of your character is revealed.

So, instead of giving up, why not rise up and fight? Show the world what you are made of.

7. Comeback Quotes on Success After Struggle and the Sweetness of Victory

98) “The more difficult the victory, the greater the happiness in winning.” – Pele

Comeback quote by Pele

Explanation: Pele was so right about this. Imagine your favorite sports team is behind on the scorecard with a few minutes to go.

Then suddenly, in the last few minutes, they come back from behind and score the winner. Sounds like a perfect and memorable ending, right? No wonder most sports movies have a similar script.

This is because winning a lost battle invokes the greatest happiness. Think of your comeback in the same way.

99) “There’s nothing as exciting as a comeback – seeing someone with dreams, watching them fail, and then getting a second chance.” – Rachel Griffiths

Explanation: There is something exceptionally heroic and romantic about a comeback. Deep inside, we all have experienced failures and struggles, so naturally, we identify with the person facing adversity.

The fighting spirit is deeply embedded in our survival instincts. So, it invokes a primal emotion of joy when we see an underdog fight out of adversity and make a glorious comeback.

Comeback quote by Louis Zamperini

Explanation: Louis Zamperini is a personal hero of mine after I watched the movie “Unbroken” and subsequently read the book with the same title. He was a World War 2 pilot who was caught by the Japanese and taken as a prisoner of war.

It takes a special character to endure what Louis experienced in this camp and still survive and live a fruitful life. This quote is about the quality of perseverance and the will to survive, which was in all its glory in that horrible prison camp, despite being met with unspoken torture and cruelty.

If Louis could survive all that and still live a long, fruitful life devoted to God, why can’t we?

9. Best Sports Comeback Quotes

103) “Never let your head hang down. Never give up and sit down and grieve. Find another way.” – Satchel Paige

107) “It’s at the borders of pain and suffering that the men are separated from the boys.” – Emil Zatopek

Explanation: Another powerful quote. A man would be separated from the boys at the threshold of pain and suffering.

Those who cannot take pain, agony, and defeat fall down (which is the case for the majority of people).

That is why true glory belongs to so few as only a selective few can withstand failure and struggle. If you imbibe this quality to withstand failure stoically, no one can stop you from making your comeback.

108) “What you feel doesn’t matter in the end; it’s what you do that makes you brave.” – Andre Agassi

Explanation: Focusing on the loss and defeat won’t get you anywhere. These things won’t be remembered by others but continue to live in your head, stalling you.

Consistency is the key to a comeback.

111) “The reward is not so great without the struggle…. The triumph can’t be had without the struggle.” – Wilma Rudolph

Comeback quote by Wilma Rudolph

Struggles and failures are essential components of final victory. Something to keep in mind while you are feeling lost in your comeback arc…

Explanation: This is a powerful quote. This highlights that it is not just about winning or losing. A champion is determined by the character and mettle he shows when the odds are against him.

That is why we should treat failures and pitfalls as blessings that will sharpen our character and shape it to perfection when the next opportunity comes knocking.

My own Comeback inspirational quotes – Taken from my personal experience

At the beginning of this piece, I shared how I had my fair share of ups and downs in life.

I wanted to share with you some personal thoughts-based quotes that helped me tackle defeat and depression, and gear myself for comebacks.

This is after a lot of hits and misses and based on my own personal experiences of struggle and failures.

These are my personally crafted quotes, thoughts, and mantras, nurtured from my own experiences and reading comeback stories. These quotes helped me rise from bed again and push myself for a comeback.

Comeback quotes coming from own personal experience No.1: The secret recipe for a comeback? Being relentless in your pursuit.”

Explanation: This is a mental theme I picked up after reading about the failures and losses of great people. The secret recipe for a successful comeback is not giving up and keeping on your path to chase your goals.

Comeback quotes derived from my own personal experience No. 2: “Comebacks are only possible for the mentally strong and the brave. There is no way to sugarcoat this.”

Explanation: I learnt that comebacks are not for everyone. This is a path for the brave and with stoic will.

You see, there will be countless ups and downs, which will shake off the majority. The ones who are prepared for adversity and have a strong will will be the only ones remaining at the end of the road to victory.

Comeback quotes based on my own personal experience No. 3: “The hunger for a comeback is directly related to the amount of fighting spirit you have in you.”

ExplanationThis holds true when you see the stories of all the famous people who executed a powerful comeback. In the end, the need to come back should not be an abstract concept but backed by a fighting spirit to win.

Comeback quotes from my own personal experience No. 4: “If you need to make a comeback, quitting should be made illegal for you.”

ExplanationYes, it is like that historic anecdote where Tariq ibn Zayd, an Arab general, burned his ships after landing on the Iberian Peninsula.

This was a strategic move to remove any temptation from his troops to quit their conquest of Spain.

In the same way, if you remove the temptation to quit, your comeback will eventually be assured. This is because you will have no choice but to move forward.

Comeback quotes and thoughts from my own personal experience No.5: “The true character of a man is revealed when the odds are against him.”

Explanation: I will take this quote with me when I am facing some adverse challenge. If the situation is against me, do I fold or do I keep fighting? If I fold, I have no right to call myself a fighter. This self-talk has helped me face some challenges in life. I hope it helps you too.

Comeback quotes stemming from my own personal experience No.6: “How you deal with failures is directly related to how your future will deal with you.”

Explanation: Failures are unavoidable. How you deal with them will directly govern the future you will live. If you cower down in front of failure, your future will be a culmination of what-ifs. If you keep going on, you will open unimaginable possibilities.

Comeback quotes stemming from my own personal experience No.7: “Perseverance, consistency, and fighting spirit are the ingredients of a man set to make a comeback.”

Explanation: After studying 100s of famous people and their comeback stories, if I have to list the top 3 qualities needed for a comeback, it would be these. If you have these qualities, nothing can stop you from making a comeback.

Personal experience-based comeback quote No.8: “Life becomes a heroic grand tale when the odds are against you.”

Explanation: I always feel this to be true. When the odds are against you, there is something heroic and romantic about it.

It becomes like a classic tale of you V/S everyone. How heroic does that feel? So instead of buckling down to multiple adversaries, chin up, and give them a hell of a fight.

Personal Comeback quote based on my own experience No. 9: “Do not fear the odds. Thank them because they will make you the best version of yourself.”

Explanation: Yes, instead of fearing the odds, celebrate them. It is your free master’s degree at the University of Life. Use them to create a better version of you, a tougher you.

Personal Experience-based comeback quote No. 10: “If you have tenacity, comebacks are more or less guaranteed.”

Explanation: If you have tenacity, literally nothing can stop you. It’s always about the one who is the most determined, the most daring. He won’t buckle down to pressure and will eventually win.

Essential tools to make the most out of comeback quotes

Here are the 3 tools that will help you convert the fuel from these inspirational comeback quotes into tangible and massive actions:

1) Fusebase

This is my go-to app for productivity and work organization. Fusebase (previous Nimbus Note) lets you categorize your work into different templates like checklists, kanban boards, notes, and more.

It also enables you to organize your businesses and side hustles with document templates for customer surveys, customer persona profiles, data tables, client briefs, SWOT analysis, journey maps, action plans, and more.

The list is endless and makes the whole work so much easier with a ready-to-use template for everything.

You can arrange the pages and templates under various folders and name them as you like. The folders and files you create here are easily searchable via keyword search, making document sorting easy.

I personally use it to have a quick-start system for getting up-to-speed with my various side hustles and also create products from the information I have put here through years of data dumps.

Sorting is easy, so I do not have to endlessly remember and search where I put what.

2) Voila AI

This is one of my favorite AI productivity tools. With Voila, I can literally do anything. If I feel stuck with what to say to a client, I enter the scenario into Voila, and it simulates an entire conversation for me.

If I want to pitch an offer to a client in a meeting, I’ll prompt Voila to showcase all the various aspects of my service correctly, and it would come up with various aspects and angles about my service that I did not think of before.

That’s just the client side of things.

Voila can help you create information products, produce brand identity details for your various brands, unwrap complicated finance concepts in simple terms, and much more.

To make a solid comeback in life, we need to get the maximum out of the limited time we have. These 3 tools are my go-to for that.

3) Brain.fm

Brain.fm generates focus music to help you work more effectively.

While other music can take your attention away from work with its hooks and melody, Brain.fm is specially designed to stimulate your brain with rhythmic pulses that support sustained attention.

You can choose the activity type you want to do (deep work, creative flow, coding, intense study, etc.), and Brain.fm will generate the perfect background sounds for you to work better. You can also set the length of time you want the music to be.

Last Updated: May 6, 2025 @ 7:37 pm

Recently, I came across a resource called “Y Combinator Startup Library.” It was 613 pages of reading recommendations from the people at Y Combinator.

As I screened through them, every title sounded catchy and something I wanted to add to my learning arsenal.

Shiny object much?

I do not think so.

There has been an information explosion over the past decade, with new approaches, ideas, and revolutionary strategies emerging.

It is nearly impossible to tap into all of them as an individual learner.

There has to be a better way, right?

That’s where book summary apps come into play.

If you are like me, playing catch up with your knowledge upgrade, then this article is specifically for you.

Book summary apps are essential tools that make your reading experience more enjoyable, and most importantly – consumable.

Book summary apps: Key features criteria

Easy to understand text: The summaries should be written in simple English and be easy to read and understand. People do not want to spend a lot of time on attentive reading, so the content should be skimmable with bullets and key points. Furthermore, the content format should be in a simple article form or similar to an e-book interface.

Audio version: The app should have an audio playback option with adjustable speed. This helps users to consume the content on the go or while doing their daily tasks.

Interactive features: The book summary app should enable copy-pasting text to save it in your notes. Additionally, the app should offer customization features like personalized book recommendations that can double as a learning roadmap based on the discipline you want to master.

Multimedia features: In addition to text and audio, the app can have multimedia learning features like infographics, mind maps, and flash cards. These features help reinforce the ideas of the book.

Depth: The app should have depth in various genres, with multiple books on each subject. The depth of book coverage can be a decisive factor in setting apart the app from competitors.

Gamification: Learning can become tedious after a while. To encourage user participation and help grasp a concept, the app can have gamification features like achievement milestones to hone in on an idea.

Based on these features criteria, I have shortlisted 13 best book summary apps for 2025.

13 Best Book Summary Apps in 2025

1) Blinkist: Best overall book summary app

blinkist homepage

Blinkist has been one of the pioneers in book summary apps. I have had this app since 2016, and it has been one of my favorites ever since.

In fact, I loved Blinkist so much that I interviewed Holger Seim, who gave a literal masterclass on how to build and grow a startup. It’s an MBA crash course wrapped as a YouTube video.

a) Features

1) Crisp summaries: The app gives crisp summaries of popular non-fiction books, calling them “blinks” (smart name choice). But contrary to the name, it’s not a blink-and-you-miss affair with Blinkist. The app comes with multimedia consumption options via text and audio.

2) Extensive depth: The Blinkist library has more than 7500+ titles. It covers everything from technology to productivity, money, and science.

3) Multi-format consumption: You can read or listen, download for offline access, and even highlight your favorite bits to save for later. Blinkist keeps adding new summaries based on trends and user requests, which keeps things fresh.

4) Blinkist Spaces:  Blinkist has an in-built feature called “Spaces”. It lets you share, recommend, and discuss titles with other like-minded users. Think of it as a playlist, where you can add titles and then share them with colleagues and friends.

5) Ability to highlight and save key insights: Blinkist lets you highlight important text from the summary and save it for later access.

6) AI summaries: This new feature lets you get the gist of any article, podcast, PDF, or YouTube video with AI.

b) User experience (UX)

The mobile app is simple and super easy to use. It is made for the mobile-first generation, making it easy for Gen Z to get a hang of it. You can browse sections and even save blinks.

The website version is listed similar to a blog site.

There is also a personalized recommendation option. The app has options for textual summaries or audio playback summaries. You can even download the blinks.

You can find books by title, author, or topic in no time.

The reading view feels like an e-book and the audio playback functions like a Spotify podcast. It’s pretty standard and simple.

c) How is it different – USP of Blinkist

The main differentiator is how quickly it gets to the main points. Blinkist knows its audience has zero time to waste and wants to get to the meat of the content fast. It delivers on this by listing the strategies step-by-step and clearly.

Additionally, one thing that stands out is its extensive personalized onboarding based on your nuanced interests and plans. It will ask you a bunch of questions about your plans and goals.

I took this quiz, and it displayed a graph showing that I am 28 books away from my desired self.

Nice gamification of my goals, increasing my session time and retention.

d) Pricing

Blinkist offers a 7-day free trial.

After that, you can choose between monthly or yearly subscriptions. The monthly plan costs $14.99. They used to have massive discounts and bundle tie-ups, but this has slowed down a bit as the app has become more popular.

Still, keep an eye out for any deals.

e) Personal experience

Here’s how I use Blinkist: when I am working on something, I let the audio of these Blinks play in the background. They take approximately 15 minutes to cover an entire book. If an idea catches my interest, I pause it and take notes. Additionally, I copy the text version of the app and paste it into a notes file.

(Keep reading to learn how to leverage AI to maximize these notes into action steps).

This way, I can tap into multiple ideas and strategies from these world-class books, which I would otherwise not know about due to my busy schedule.

Further, one thing I like about Blinkist is how swiftly it gets to the meat of the content. It lists the strategies and tactics in a clear, consumable manner.

One of my favorite books that I found on Blinkist is Carol Dweck’s Mindset. The strategies listed here had a profound impact on my life, and it is thanks to Blinkist that I came to know about the book.

f) Pros and cons

Pros:
  • Time-saving: The summaries are very succinct and discuss the book’s main points in just 15 minutes, making it perfect for busy startup founders, freelancers, and solopreneurs.
  • Extensive depth: The app has over 7500+ titles, making it the biggest book summary app in terms of library depth.
  • Packed with useful features: The app is feature-rich to the hilt. It has interesting features like highlight and note taking, playlist spaces, and AI summaries, becoming much more than a mere summary app.
Cons:
  • Surface-level learning: At the end of the day, Blinkist is surface-level learning. Sometimes, people are discouraged from buying a book if they can get the main strategies via an app like Blinkist. But that should not be the case. If you are interested in a topic, use Blinkist as a primer to get the feel of the topic and dive deeper based on that.

    2) StoryShots: Best book summary app for multi-format consumption

    storyshots homepage

Compared to Blinkist, StoryShots is a new kid on the block. The book summary app gives snappy yet engaging summaries of popular non-fiction books. It has become a hit for many readers who want to maximize their learning experience without spending hours on big books.

    a) Features

    1) Multi-format consumption with infographics and mind maps: You can access text summaries, audio versions, and even infographics and mind maps (after seeing the valuable infographics, I saved them to my folder, making them part of my work notes).

    2) Crisp summaries: Each summary takes 8-9 minutes to complete, making it ideal for busy solopreneurs who want to capture thoughts and insights quickly.

    3) Topic depth: The library has a wide range of titles, from self-development to entrepreneurship. You can download the summaries and highlight your favorite parts for future reference.

    4) Mark as favorite: You can mark a book as a favorite and read it later.

    5) PDF export: You can export the main summary as a PDF and send it to your email or Kindle account. You can read or listen to summaries, download them for offline access, and highlight your favorite parts for later reference.

    6) Video and audio summaries: Another standout feature is the curated content that links to podcasts or YouTube videos related to the books. This extra layer of resourcefulness means you can dive deeper into the material without the hassle of extensive research—how cool is that?

    7) Shopping option: You have the option to directly buy the book from Amazon by clicking on the shopping cart link on top of the app.

    8) Multilingual summaries: Apart from English, some selective books include summaries in German, French, Spanish, and more.

    storyshots multilingual options

    9) AI summaries: This is still in BETA but I tested it for efficiency and it came out with good results. Basically, you just enter a book name along with its author, and StoryShots will use AI to generate a quick summary of the book. For example, I entered “Adaptive Markets” by Andrew Lo, and it generated a fairly good summary of the book.

    StoryShots AI generated

    b) User experience (UX)

Navigating through the mobile app felt easy. The design is user-friendly and visually appealing. Finding various options was easy and just a click away.

Though it is a mobile-first app, the website version was straightforward as well, with images and infographics laid out in a blog article format.

The handy search bar lets you find different titles and sections.

The reading view mimics an ebook experience, offering a comfortable reading experience for mobile-first users.

You can also use the audio player and adjust the playback speed.

    c) How is it different – USP of StoryShots

Two things are very unique about the app.

Firstly, the relevant infographics and mind maps give the app a powerful edge over others. This makes the content more digestible and the concepts more easy to understand.

Secondly, it has links to relevant video summaries and podcasts. This aids in further learning and exploring the concept in more detail.

This flexibility caters to different learning styles, whether you’re an auditory learner who enjoys listening or prefers visual content.

While other apps may focus solely on text or audio, StoryShots provides a well-rounded approach that enhances user engagement.

Thirdly (and though still in BETA), the AI summary feature is geared to have unlimited potential. You can just enter any book along with its author, and StoryShots will generate a summary of the book.

    d) Pricing

StoryShots has a freemium model with pricing at $29.99 per year or a one-time payment of $59.99. Users can access some content for free, but a premium subscription unlocks additional features and unlimited access to all summaries. This model is appealing to those who want to try before committing financially.

    e) Personal experience

I stumbled upon StoryShots after hearing about its engaging format and was immediately intrigued. Having access to multiple modes of summaries in one app with a one-time payment was too good to pass up!

The verdict: My experience has been overwhelmingly positive. I love how I can switch between reading a summary during my work break or quickly glance through a mind map of a concept I am trying to master.

Pro tip: One particular growth hack I am trying these days is every morning after meditation, I glance through the topic I want to attack today and go through the mind map infographic. This gives me a clear view and roadmap of how my mind thinks about it. Honestly, this experiment has been a game-changer thanks to StoryShots.

Would I recommend StoryShots? Absolutely! It’s perfect for those looking for quick insights without the time commitment of full-length books. With its engaging formats and valuable curated content, it’s definitely worth checking out.

    d) Pricing

Readitfor.me offers simple pricing plans with monthly pricing starting from $29 per month. It also has a lifetime deal which goes for a one-time payment of $999, granting lifetime access to all content on the platform.

    e) Personal experience

I got this app a few years back, and it has stayed with me ever since. I like how it simplifies an entire book into a single article-length summary.

The language is pretty simple, and I like the clever use of paragraphs and bullets to help me understand a topic better.

My reading tactic for the app is as follows: If I am struggling with something, I simply open the web version of the app and search for the discipline I want to improve. Next, I start reading various book summaries on the topics. Wherever I find an interesting strategy or point, I copy-paste it in my notes.

The clubbing of different summaries under a micro course and masterclass is really helpful. It helps me grab the concepts better as it pre-arranges the book concepts in the order they should be for maximum impact.

    Pros:

    c) How is it different – USP of InstaRead

In my opinion, the USP is the diversity of topics. The app has some interesting titles in science, history, philosophy, and even fiction.

I also enjoyed the options for making flashcards out of key summary insights and quotes, which pull out the key ideas from the book in a snackable form. You can also follow and like flashcards of other users.

Lastly, the idea of following topic-specific lists keeps you on track with your goals and not individually search and hunt for book summaries related to your topic.

    d) Pricing

Monthly subscription starts from $8.99 per month with a 7-day free trial.

    e) Personal experience

The app’s wide range of books opened me to new authors and ideas. I particularly enjoyed the summary of “How to Know a Person” by David Brooks and “Countdown 1960” by Chris Wallace.

    f) Pros and cons

    Pros:

    • Broad selection: An extensive library covering various categories ensures something for everyone.
    • Lists: You can follow a goal-specific list or create your own within seconds.
    • Trending flashcards: You can create flashcards out of key insights from the summaries and share it on the platform. This way, you can get it to trend and get followers on the app.

    Cons:

    • Overwhelming for the millennial user: The card option though helpful, can throw the older millennial user (raises hand!) a bit off track due to it appearing slightly out of context in the first go.
    • Lack of trending business bestsellers: I could not find some top business-related bestsellers which can be a great reading addition to the app.

    7) Shortform: Best book summary platform for interactive engagement

    Shortform highlight and note taking

    8) Podcast guides: The app lets you have access to summaries of popular podcasts with the option to highlight important ideas.

    b) User experience

The onboarding felt strangely similar to Headway, with almost the same onboarding experience, literally down to signing the commitment pact with the thumb print. I have not noticed anyone mentioning this similarity. Coincidence?

Having said that, the platform is well-organized and helps you easily navigate through book categories and guides. The platform is loaded with features with nudges and pointers on how to access every feature.

All the important options like book summary, podcast summary, audio, are neatly arranged on the bottom.

The community aspect is easy to access, where you can reply to the community comments with a button click.

I also appreciate the Shortform team giving a checklist of actionable items, which I am using as SOPs for my work.

The community feature had some generic comments but maybe it will catch up as more people start using the app.

The exercises come across as handy one-pagers that you can do and then save them to your notes.

The podcast summary feature is very much welcomed as a lot of valuable ideas/strategies these days are discussed exclusively via the podcast format.

    f) Pros and cons

    Pros:

      • Practical exercises: This promotes active user participation and makes the book journey a more interactive experience. This ultimately helps in fixing the ideas in your mind.
      • Community support: It instills a sense of user camaraderie and the idea of reading books together.
      • Highlight and note taking: You can highlight key insights from a summary and add your personalized notes to it for future reference.
      • Podcast summaries: Apart from books, it even offers podcast summaries of notable podcasts.
    Cons:

    • Overwhelming: Too many interactive features can sometimes clutter thought. I would suggest either going for the highlight feature or the practical exercises, pushing the other one for a later date.

    e) Personal experience

The app is great for guided learning journeys. I liked how the goals were categorized. Also, the free daily book summary is extremely valuable, as it inspired me to discover more books and rediscover old ones. For example, I had read Deep Work by Cal Newport before, but coming across the free book summary made me discover additional insights I might have skipped while reading the book.

A few problems, though. The app keeps popping up CTAs asking me to upgrade. Though not a deal breaker, the pop-ups feel intrusive.

Another problem: For some reason, the micropaths are coming in Portuguese. When I checked the settings, the language was English, so I hope the developers take that into note.

    f) Pros and cons

    Pros:
      • Micropaths: Micropaths help in guided learning based on personalized goals.

      • Extensive library: Extensive library of 2500 books and 24 categories

    Cons:

    3) Key takeaways listed for each title: The app has key takeaways listed for each title, which give you the gist of the book in a rapid-fire way.

    SoBrief key takeaways

    4) Key quotes: The app extracts key quotes from each chapter which further drives home the key points of the author.

    SoBrief key quotes

    5) FAQs: Every summary has an FAQs section where key questions and answers related to the ideas of the book are listed neatly.

    6) Free PDF download: You can take the learning offline as there is an option to download the PDF version of the summary for free.

    b) User experience

The UX is neat and smooth. I used the web version and it was extremely clean and straightforward. The key takeaways and FAQs were listed like menu widgets on the right while the summaries were in the centre, akin to an article format.

    c) How is it different – USP of SoBrief

Hands down, the USP of SoBrief is its vast library that you can access for free. You can get access to a ton of titles and read them without spending a dime. This already wins the game for me.

Moreover, the FAQs feature is another interesting and unique feature adding a bit of predictive interactivity based on anticipating the kind of questions the reader might have after reading the summary.

    d) Pricing

The app is priced at $24 per month with an option for a 5-day free trial.

    e) Personal experience

This is a post-publication addition. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this app and its vast library of free titles. I loved how organized the app was, with multiple categories arranged neatly.

I enjoyed the crisp approach to summaries via important quotes, takeaways, and FAQs. I feel if a user just goes through this and quickly goes over the summary, they will have most of the book’s key points.

Overall, a great discovery for me.

    f) Pros and cons

    Pros:

      • Free: You can read the summaries for free.
      • A huge library: The app boasts 73k+ titles.
      • Key takeaways: The app has key takeaways to further speed up consumption.
      • FAQs: The app’s FAQs feature can quickly help you explore the concepts in an interactive way.
      • Free PDF download: You can download the PDF of the summary for free.
    Cons:

    • No Infographics: The app can make use of infographics for each summary.
    • No option to take notes: You cannot highlight and take notes on the app.

    12) Four Minute Books – Best free book summary newsletter

    Four Minute Books homepage image

This is one of the OGs of book summary apps I always saw hanging around in Google search for summaries. Now, after many years, I decided to finally explore it.

The app has over 1300 book summaries available for free via the site and via its newsletter. It also has a YouTube channel delivering YouTube summaries.

    a) Features

    1) 1 sentence summary: Before even starting the summary, the site gives a single-line gist on what the book summary is all about. This helps you decide if you want to explore the book summary further or not.

    2) Favorite quotes: The site lists the favorite quote from the author, which basically lists the biggest epiphany or takeaway from the book.

    3) 3 key lessons: Unlike other summary apps, four-minute books aim to keep it even more succinct and short. It picks the key 3 lessons from the book summary. Now though it has its positives, like giving you the main 3 ideas,  I believe a lot of key things can get left out which other book summary apps efficiently cover.

    4) The target audience recommendation: Each summary has a section where the team behind “Four Minute Books” recommends who the book is best fitted for.

Four minute books image showing who the summary is recommended for

    5) Free PDF download: The site offers free PDF downloads of its summaries.

    6) Free YouTube summaries: The site also features free YouTube summaries which are a cool audio-visual addition, helping in better consumption of ideas.

    b) User experience

The UX is pretty straightforward. Each summary has a preview with 1 line summary and favorite quote from the book. Based on this, you can click “Read more” and open the full summary. The summaries are short with 3 key lessons each.

    c) How is it different – USP of Four Minute Books

The site’s USP has to be the free newsletter and the free YouTube channel. Also, another USP can be the super short summaries with just the 3 key lessons. This helps in deciding if the book is for you or not. Having said that, I feel it has its cons too, as some important points can be skipped.

    d) Pricing

The site offers a lifetime subscription for a one-time payment of $99.

    e) Personal experience

Hmm, I have mixed opinions about this one. On one hand, I like the short summaries giving me the main ideas quickly, but on the other hand, I feel – What if this summary has some key lesson left out, which might personally be useful for me?

I liked the preview versions listing the 1 line summaries and favorite quotes, It helped me decide whether I should explore the book in more detail.

I also liked the feature listing who this book is for. This helps one assess if a particular book is the right fit for one’s goals.

    f) Pros and cons

    Pros:

      • Short summaries: The summaries are succinct and give the 3 main ideas.
      • Previews: Preview features like 1-line summaries and best quotes from the book help you decide if the book is the right fit.
      • Free PDF download: The site offers free PDF downloads of the book.
      • Stating who the book is for: The site offers recommendations on who is the perfect audience for each book.
      • YouTube summaries: The site offers multimedia options for consumption with video summaries available over YouTube.
    Cons:

    • Missing key lessons: Since the summaries offer only 3 key lessons, many key lessons can end up being skipped.
    • Lack of interactive features: No option to highlight key points and add your own notes.

    13) Sumizeit: Best budget-friendly book summary app

    Sumizeit homepage featured image

This is a recent discovery. Sumizeit was founded in 2019 and has been an interesting player in the market by offering premium book summary app features at a low cost.

The founder, Weina Scott, a Harvard graduate, created the app based on her own experience of juggling meetings and work, leaving little time for reading and learning.

I personally spoke to Weina, and this is what she had to say about the thought that went behind the app:

“Sumizeit was born from the mission to empower busy individuals with fast, actionable knowledge without sacrificing quality. The idea was simple but powerful: take the best insights from full-length books and distil them into digestible, high-quality summaries that could be consumed in about 15 minutes.”

    a) Features

    1) Multi-format Summaries: I like how the app offers multi-format summaries for better knowledge intake. Currently, the platform provides summaries via text, audio, infographics, PDF, and even video formats.

    2) Quizzes: I love book summary apps that offer quizzes based on the summaries. They help you refresh and memorize the concepts with interactive media at play. Sumizeit does the same with quizzes that reinforce learning and retention.

    3) Infographics: Sumizeit offers downloadable infographics which serve as visual summaries for quick, easily consumable insights. These infographics can be downloaded and be accessed offline.

    Downloadable infographics from Sumizeit

    4) Important book details via bullets: The app lists important information about the book such as 1) what we will learn from the book 2) Who is it for, and 3) key insights.

    5) Offline access: Users can download the summaries and access them offline.

    6) Gamification: The app adds gamification to your learning experience by allotting points for each summary you complete and enabling you to earn titles like “genius” and “scholar”.

    Sumizeit gamification feature

    b) User experience

Sumizeit has a fairly clean interface, and the navigation feels smooth. Switching from one format to another was easy.

The quizzes and gamified elements add a bit of fun and interactive excitement to the app.

The app lists the summaries in a simple blog article-style format, making it easy to simply scroll down and read the summary.

    c) How is it different – USP of Sumizeit

Sumizeit stands out from other summary apps coz of premium-level features like multi-format consumption (infographics, videos, etc.), gamified learning, quizzes, and more at a low price point.

I also like the interesting book categories like health and nurition, philosophy, and spirituality.

    d) Pricing

The app subscription is $6.99/month or $49/year.

    e) Personal experience

For this cheap price point, I did not expect it to have infographics and video summaries. The app was easy and simple to navigate. The interactive features added an extra touch of fun to the app.

The categories were diverse, including the standard business, marketing, and sales categories, as well as some interesting categories like religion and spirituality, parenting, and health and nutrition.

One small issue for me would be the lack of depth in the library. I would love to see more books being added to the mix with infographics.

    f) Pros and cons

    Pros:

      • Low price point: The app is priced at only $6.99 per month.
      • Multi-format summaries: The app offers summaries in text, audio, video, and infographics.
      • Diverse categories: The app has some interesting categories like religion and spirituality, parenting, and health and nutrition.
      • Offline access: The summaries and infographics can be downloaded and accessed offline.
    Cons:

    • Lack of depth in the app library: The app needs to add more books for each category.
    • No Android app: The app is not available on Android at the moment.

Book Summary Apps: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is the best app for book summaries?

We have tested and reviewed the 7 best apps for book summaries. Here they are:

    1) Blinkist

    2) StoryShots

    3) Headway

    4) Readitfor.me

    5) Mentorist

    6) InstaRead

    7) Shortform

    9) getAbstract

    10) Wiser

    What is better than Blinkist?

Blinkist is an excellent app to uncover key insights and strategies of best business books. However, there are certain apps that can give a tough competition to Blinkist and can be subjectively claimed as better than Blinkist. These apps are:

    1) StoryShots
    2) Headway

StoryShots has the additional feature of easy-to-understand infographics that assist the learning process even further.

Headway is a great app that has the additional feature of spaced repititions. In short, it lets you highlight key points from the summary and turn them into interactive flashcards that you can refer later or on the go.

    Can ChatGPT summarize books?

Absolutely. you just need to go to Open AI and give a simple prompt like this:

ChatGPT prompt to generate book summaries

However, you can also get this done with in-built features in apps like Blinkist and StoryShots. You simply enter a book name, and BAM! The summaries are fetched!

Also, if you observe, the summaries are much detailed with specific insights.

Where can I find free book summaries?

You can find free book summaries via apps like Blinkist, StoryShots, Headway, and Shortform.

With Blinkist’s “Free Blink of the Day” you get one free book summary, written in the high-quality content style that Blinkist is known for.

The catch is that you cannot choose the book summary you want, as it is randomly fetched. Moreover, there is only 1 summary per day.

The same goes for apps like StoryShots, Shortform, or Headway. They generate a random free book summary every day.

Alternatively, you can check a resource such as book summaries by Samuel Thomas Davies

Samuel has listed 143 free book summaries covering multiple genres.

You can also check out a resource like Four Minute Books.

It lists over 300+ summaries in genres like Science, motivation, economics, productivity, management, and more. The summaries cover a 1 line summary, favorite quotes, and detailed takeaway lessons from each book.

Next, there is an app called SoBrief which lists over 73k book summaries across multiple genres that you can read anytime you want.

What is the future of book summary apps?

The book summary apps market is starting to get really crowded. With the coming of age of AI, expect even more book summary apps to pop up due to the low barrier of entry.

Most of the apps are very similar in nature (as we even saw in terms of the UX skins of multiple apps). So what will be the key differentiator for book summary apps in the future?

    Well, 3 things:

    1. The size and depth of the library
    2. The number of interactive features
    3. The level of multimedia format.

Going forward, I predict the big boys in the book summary app space (think Blinkist and the likes), will increase their library multifold.

I also anticipate interactive features like users being able to ask questions about a particular summary within the app and getting contextual answers based on the content of the summary (similar to apps like Docxter and Voila).

Furthermore, almost all big apps will have StoryShots like infographic versions of book summaries, along with video summaries.

In conclusion, with the advent of AI, more book summary apps will pop up, with the key differentiator of depth, interactive UX, and multimedia consumption separating the quality apps from the run-of-the-mill, fly-by-night apps.

Pro tips on using book summary apps – How to use it for maximum advantage

We have discussed all the best book summary apps. How about we take it one step further and use AI to get even more value from them?

I have personally prepared a step-by-step approach to how to get the maximum value from these book summary apps using AI.

    Here’s how it goes:

    1) Copy and paste the summary on an app called Voila AI.

    2) Ask Voila to explain the concept in the simplest terms. Here are a variety of prompts you can use to get this done

    a) Explain every concept in this text in a step-by-step strategy with the end goal of [entire desired goal related to the book topic].

    b) Convert this text into step-by-step strategies

    c) Convert the text into a sequence of SOPs

    d) Convert this text into a set of rules and diktat.

    e) Convert the knowledge and strategies from this summary into strategies to grow my [enter niche] business.

Alternatively, if the app has infographics and graphs, you can save that image and upload it on Voila AI.

Next, you can use the following prompts:

    a) Explain the concepts in this image as you would explain to a 10-year-old.

    b) List out all the strategies mentioned in the image and arrange them into step-by-step takeaways and action steps.

    c) Explain every concept mentioned in the image in the most detailed and simplest form.

    Conclusion – My personal picks

These were the best book summary apps I could find.

You can choose your pick based on your needs and your learning styles.

My personal top picks would be the following:

    a) Blinkist: This is the most comprehensive app in terms of library depth. You will find nearly all genres here and with some very special and interesting pics.

    b) StoryShots: I would consider it the best for idea consumption as it offers infographics and mind maps apart from the standard text/audio summaries. Additionally, I like their AI summary feature. This feature has the potential to make the app nearly limitless.

    c) Headway: This is best for memorizing key insights and ideas with the use of flashcards.

The best way to use these apps is to add your own improvisations to them by first noting down the key concepts and elaborating them via AI.

Additionally, you can create a step-by-step SOP to assist your work.
